Companies and financially minded people seem to throw around words that don't seem to belong to the English language, or perhaps they once did but have been co-opted by some far off galaxy of aliens. The words sound English but to try and understand what they actually mean can be a challenge.
Phrases like corporate by in and top down initiatives are made out of words we are all familiar with but actually deciphering the meaning is another thing entirely. With a word like forex you might be forgiven for thinking it strange, because it is actually a combination of two words: foreign exchange becomes forex.
Finances, just like everything else in our rapidly developing world, are at the mercy of technology. An entire company can go bankrupt if a computer server fails. But it also has its advantages like online forex trading.
All forex really means is explained in its name, it is the exchange of one currency for another. There are big businesses and countries who make a lot of money by trading various currencies at the right moment.
It is strange to consider that all of this financial trade and online trading of currencies all started out when someone decided to standardise payment methods. Instead of a goat for a horse, gold became the standard currency and so many years later, not much has changed.
